Keep It Local: Gluten Free Bakery Treats

Happy Saturday! This is the first of a new category of blog posts that I will be adding to my website: supporting local businesses in Naples. I plan to highlight businesses that are related to food, health and wellness, as well as businesses that can help you look and feel your best. Of course, I decided to start with something sweet… where to find delicious gluten free bakery treats in our community. There are two local businesses that I feel are real stand-outs, so without further ado, here they are…

Epiphany Gluten Free Bakery. Located at 1514 Immokalee Road #117, in Naples 34110, just east of the intersection with Goodlette Frank, this little gem is open 6 days a week (closed Sundays) to serve the community. The bakery is a dedicated gluten free facility – important for those with Celiac disease – and they have a large selection of treats as well as some nice lunch offerings. For those with other digestive disorders such as IBS or lactose intolerance, some of their items would be suitable for you, but some are not. Please check with them for the ingredients of any item you may be interested in purchasing as they are very willing to help. I have been a customer there for several years now and have two particular favorites: their lemon blueberry loaf and their sour cream coffee cake. Their service is friendly and the environment is very welcoming. I highly recommend them!

Angelic Desserts. Located in the Shoppes at Vanderbilt at 2355 Vanderbilt Beach Road, in Naples 34109, just west of the intersection with Airport Pulling, this sweet little bakery is open 7 days a week and is soon expanding! They are taking over the space next door (the former Nawty Hogg BBQ restaurant) so they can have more square footage for their business. It is important to note that this is NOT a dedicated gluten free facility, but they do have a very nice selection of gluten free desserts and some gluten free breakfast and lunch options. While I do occasionally love to have one of their treats – I love their gluten free almond flour chocolate chip cookies, most often I come here for their quinoa breakfast power bowl, which is amazing! They provide excellent customer service in a really homey environment. You’ll be glad you stopped in.

I hope you have enjoyed learning about these local businesses, especially if they are new to you. Of course, there will be more posts like this to come in the future, so stay tuned!
